Annual Oakland County Events and Festivals That You Shouldn’t Miss!

If you love attending cultural events and community festivals, you’ll love Oakland County.

In Oakland County, several cities and small towns host annual community events and festivals that are truly fun, unique and exciting. Below are some of the best ones that are totally worth visiting and attending.

Birmingham

This city is popularly known as “A Walkable Community”. It has several fine shops, art galleries and amazing restaurants. Birmingham hosts a Farmer’s Market and “In the Park” concerts.  Below are some of its annual events.

January – February: Little Christmas Tea, Restaurant Week

March – April: Uptown Film Festival

May – June: Celebrate Birmingham Parade

July – August: Birmingham Cruise Event, Bike Festival, Birmingham Street Art Fair

September – October: Halloween Parade

November – December: Holiday Tree Lighting and Santa House Opens, Magic of Birmingham, Winter Markt (German), Magic of Birmingham, Family New Year Blast

Farmington

This city has lots of historical buildings and architectural structures that are truly beautiful and exciting.  The City of Farmington hosts a Farmers and Artisans Market, as well as concert and entertainment series in Riley Park. Here are some of its annual events:

May – June: Art on the Grand

July – August: Founders Festival

September – October: Harvest Moon Celebration, Ghost Walk, Heritage Week

November – December: Holly Days

Ferndale

Dubbed as the “Good Neighbors” city, the City of Ferndale is one of the most affordable and friendliest places to live in Oakland County. Some of its amazing annual events are as follows:

January – February: Blues Festival

March – April: Taste of Ferndale, Assembly Line Concert, Green Week

May – June: Memorial Day Parade, Dyke March, Motor City Pride

July – August: Fido Does Ferndale, Green Cruise, Ferndale Woodward Dream Cruise

September – October: Ferndale Funky Art Fair and DIY Street Fair

November – December: Ferndale Film Festival, Prohibition Party, Holiday Ie Festival & The Warm Hearted Cookie Challenge

Milford

Formerly known as “Egypt”, The Village of Milford is truly one of the best places to visit in Oakland County. It has lots of parks, history-rich structures and amazing, picturesque landscapes. It regularly hosts a Farmer’s Market, movies and concert series in the park. Annual Milford events include:

May – June: Memorial Day Parade

July – August: Shop, Rock, and Stroll, Fourth of July Parade, Milford Memories

September – October: Milford Classic Car show, Boo Bash

November – December: Christmas Parade, MBA Christmas Open House

Northville

This is one of the busiest cities in Oakland County. The City of Northville is known for its Victorian-era housing, amazing landscape and quaint small-town atmosphere. It’s the home of many amazing shops, galleries and restaurants. Some of its annual events and festivities include:

May – June: Arts and Acts

July – August: Buy Michigan Now

September – October: Victorian Festival, Ghoultide Gathering, Car Tunes Fall Festival

November – December: Christmas Tea, Holiday Light Parade

These are just few of the many Oakland County events and festivities that happen yearly. As you can see, Oakland County doesn’t run out of exciting occasions and fun gatherings.

    There are so many fun things going on in Oakland county. I would love to go to the bicycle festival in Birmingham and the Ferndale art fair.

  9. Michigan has so many great summer events that you can spend the whole day just wandering around and enjoying. I have been to all of these, and each offer great activities and things to see. Great list!

    What a fun place to go, I have yet to visit Oakland County. I would definitely love to visit during restaurant week and during the Uptown Film Festival. I would love to take my family here one day soon.
