Moving from one apartment to another can be quite stressful, especially if you have to do it in a short period of time. If you are one of those people who have to move pronto, here are some packing tips and tricks that can help you out. These tips will make the whole process easier, efficient and less stressful. Check them out!

How To Pack To Move In A Hurry

Prepare your packing supplies and materials

Before you start packing things up, make sure that the materials that you’ll need for the process is all at hand. Check your boxes, tapes, markers, bubble wraps and other packing supplies and make sure that they are enough for the task.  Don’t start packing until you are sure that the packing supplies are complete. The last thing you want is to stop packing just to buy another set of packing tapes.

Start packing up

How To Pack For A Move In One Day - Moving BoxesDon’t procrastinate and start immediately! Get an early start to give yourself extra couple of hours to organize things up. Start early in the morning and try to finish the whole process when nighttime arrives. If your move is on the next day, getting a couple hours of sleep can help a lot.

Get some help

Ask some of your friends and family members to help you out.  Having extra hands will make the whole packing process faster and easier. It can also make it quite enjoyable as you have someone you can talk to while packing things up. Offer them some drinks and snacks after few hours of packing. And when all things are packed and done, treat them to a nice dinner with cozy drinks.

Do it one room at a time

If you have limited time to do the packing, chances are you’ll be wanting to pack them all up in one sitting. Don’t do it this way. Instead, pack one room at a time. This way, you won’t get overwhelmed throughout the process.

Label everything

Label each and every box as soon as you are done with it. This will make the whole packing and even unpacking process well organized. Label boxes with fragile items accordingly. Indicate the room where the boxes should go.

Ask someone to take care of pets and/or kids

Arrange someone to take care of your kids and your pets while you are packing your stuff and items. You don’t want them running and playing around while you are busy with the packing process. With them around, you won’t be able to focus or concentrate on the task. Ask a relative or a friend to take care of them until your task is done.

Do not sacrifice safety for speed

Yes, time is not on your side but this doesn’t mean you have to risk it all just to get it all done on time. There’s no point in packing your items quickly if you will hurt yourself or damage your belongings at the middle of the process. Always put safety and security above everything else.

Packing and moving on a hurry is not an easy process but it’s not that impossible. With proper planning and preparation (alongside with these tips), you’ll be able to do it like a regular chore.

One day! I hope they have a very small apartment then, lol. When I moved out from my 670 sq. foot apartment, it took a week or two to pack. (I have a lot of stuff, but still …)

I always swear I’ll never move again! Reading something like this also encourages me to purge some belongings from storage – do I really need everything I’d be forced to move? Hahaha…
